Easy and delish lasagna; so good you may slap your mama!

Standard

One of my fav meals is homemade lasagna! I could seriously eat a whole pan. A few months ago, when I had a lasagna craving, I found a recipe by the Neely’s. Side note, I’m still a little bummed that they broke up. But I’m kinda not surprised because I’ve always said that a couple who is that over the top with the lovey doviness is probably clawing each other’s eyes out at home!

The first time I made it, I was puzzled about why the recipe didn’t call for seasoning the meat, so I added seasoning while cooking the meat, plus added the seasoning that the recipe did call for and it came out salty. This time I followed the instructions and it came out perfect!

I also made a few other adjustments to the recipe. I used regular lasagna noodles instead of the no boil kind because I just don’t like the taste of the no boil kind. I also used crushed tomatoes instead of stewed because I mean hello, why chop them when you can already buy them crushed? I used ground turkey and mild Italian sausage. I used ricotta cheese instead of cottage. And I also used lowfat cheeses. Here’s the original recipe

If you love lasagna, you’ve gotta try this one. Delish!!!!

Tulle-in’ around on a Sunday!

Standard

Tulle skirts are everywhere these days! And who doesn’t wanna walk around looking like a ballerina?! Especially me because I love all things fluffy, foo foo, and girly!

I found my tulle skirt in Ross weeks ago. I wore it for the first time to church today. I had to sit in the back away from people because it’s kinda big when I sit and I didn’t want anyone sitting on my skirt 😁.

Mine is the perfect shade of blush. You can dress these things up or down. The next time I have a girls night out, I’m wearing it with a white crop top!

What do you wear with your tulle skirts?

Where I got it:

  • Shirt: Express
  • Skirt: Ross
  • Heels: Target (Sam & Libby)
  • Necklace: jane.com

Before you order those cute clothes from China, read this!

Standard

We’ve all seen the ads on Facebook for the cute, cheap clothes from China….but before you click buy and get your credit card out of your wallet, you may want to think twice before you buy!

I’ve fallen into the trap three times already, and I don’t plan on giving it another shot. The first item I ordered was this pink coat. It was advertised as a wool blend, so I should have known better, it’s fleece πŸ˜”

The next item I ordered was this shirt. Yes it is super cute, but the material is super cheap and thin. The first one arrived with a hole, they did send a replacement without even asking for the first one back, but it took forever and a day for it to get here. Also, the buttons at the neckline aren’t even real buttons, or centered in the middle!

And last, I ordered this swimsuit…the top is supposed to be a halter-ish type top, but it’s just a thin piece of material with no lining that you’re expected to somehow wrap around you and stay put! I did end up buying another black top from Target to wear with the bottoms because I do at least like those.

So, there you have it. The good, bad, and the ugly of buying online from China. They do offer low, very low prices, and very cute finds, but since you never know what you’re gonna get quality wise, it’s not worth taking the risk to me. One more thing, the sizes are waaaaay off! Everything I’ve gotten was at least an XL, and I’m clearly not an XL size.

Let me know what experiences you’ve had and what you think!

The awesomeness of the bucket bag

Standard

I’ve never really been a fan of the bucket bag, I never even had one before until recently. Because there is no shame in my game, and I’m not a brand snob, I shop any and everywhere! From Ross to Neiman Marcus, and everywhere in between! But I’m also cheap, yeah I said it, so Ross is probably my fav place to shop.

A few weeks ago, on one of my regular trips, I bought my first bucket bag. It had a really long strap, so I’m assuming it was intended to be a cross body bag, but it’s also kinda large, so I wasn’t sure. The first time I carried it, I did wear it as a cross body bag, but it was too heavy and uncomfortable. So, now I’m carrying it on the shoulder. Because of the super long strap, and no way of adjusting it, I got innovative and tied an old fashioned knot on the strap, and solved that issue!

It’s a super cute bag, and it has fringe!!! Yes! I LOVE fringe on anything!

What do you think about bucket bags? I think I want another one! I can fit everything in mine!

Pink & green Tuesday!

Standard

One of my fav color combos is pink and green, and not just because I’m an AKA 😊. Actually I wear so much green that someone pointed out to me that I’m wearing something green most days at work.

I’m not a mall shopper, but I had to go get a watch battery and lipstick on Saturday. Usually I’m in and out when I do have to go, but I decided to look around this time. I found some amazeballs deals, so I’m glad I went! I got a super cute blouse and skirt that I’m wearing today at NY&Co. Both pieces were less than $30!

What are some of your fav color combos? Color blocking may not be a big thing anymore, but I still do it!

Where I got it:

  • Blouse & skirt: NY&Co
  • Heels: DSW

Updated: Quick and easy way to protect your red bottoms

Standard

A few weeks ago, I finally got to cross an item off my wish/bucket list. I got myself a pair of Louboutins, and I’m still in love with them! Before purchasing them, I googled ways to protect the bottoms, because hello, you pay that much money, you want to keep the bottoms red!
I kept seeing online, people talk about using Zagg screen protectors on them, so that’s what I did too. I ordered mine from eBay. All you have to do is cut it to fit your shoe, and you’re good to go! I wore mine for the first time today outside, and I’m so excited that this trick works! You can see the wear is only on the screen protector, not my shoe! I’ll probably change it after a few more times just because I don’t like to see the dirt or scuffs, you guessed it, I’m a bit OCD 😊 I will warn you though, be extremely careful when you’re taking them off to put on a new one because when I tried to get air bubbles out while putting it on, I wasn’t gentle enough and the paint started to lift on the corner. But hey, worse would have happened without having them on to begin with, so I won’t cry…for now 😌 Most people choose the protective soles to protect their soles, but I just don’t know if I want to go that route. A cobbler basically scrapes off the red paint and then puts on a thin rubber sole…I think I like this approach better because I keep the original sole, and I keep my red paint in tip top condition. Works for me!

Here’s the Zagg screen protector I ordered from eBay. They’re much cheaper here than in stores like Best Buy. Because it comes with a back and front cover, you have enough for at least 2 pair of shoes! The seller I ordered from also still has them available here

Update: don’t do it!!!!! I was wrong, when I went to remove the screen protector, the paint peeled off too 😫

I had to take them to a cobbler to get protective soles. I’m pleased with the results, but I hate I even tried this trick to begin with!

Because leggings count as real pants!Β

Standard

A few years ago, I started becoming slightly obsessed with leggings! I was buying so many, I recognized it was becoming a problem, and had to cut myself off 😊

Leggings are just awesome! I wear them around the house, to the gym, and the cute ones I wear as real pants! I can dress them up or down, either way they’re super cute!

Last weekend while shopping at Ross I found a cute black tunic that I bought specifically to wear with leggings, but when I got it home and tried it on, it looked cute as a dress. So, this morning I had in my head I was going to wear it as a dress to work….but it looked a little too short for the office. While I’ve been known to slightly push the envelope for office appropriate clothing, I knew better 😊

So, I grabbed a pair of leggings from the closet. Here’s what I’m wearing today. And one more thing I love about leggings, they’re super comfy, and stretch when you eat! Of course that’s the most important thing you need to know about leggings!

  • Tunic & leggings: Ross

My first pair of Louboutins!

Standard

They’ve been on my dream list for years! I finally got a pair of Louboutins and I can’t stop looking at them and trying them on 😍! I’m in love with a pair of shoes. I had no idea they were so hard to get your hands on before I started on this journey! 2 weeks ago I went to Neiman Marcus thinking I could just waltz right in there, pick them out, and walk out the door! I’ve learned a lot since then, let me tell ya!

But alas, today I picked up my shoes! They are just gorgeous and feel amazeballs on my feet! I got the Iriza in black leopard. They are suede, and have a hint of shimmer. Because I LOVE leopard, these are perfect for me! They are a bit dressy, but I plan on wearing them with any and everything because they can be dressed up or down.

Here are some pics from unboxing them!

And here’s what they look like on!

So, I googled ways to protect your red bottoms and found many reviews about using Zagg screen protectors that are made to use on cell phones and tablets. Supposedly they stay put on the bottom of your shoes and keeps them from getting scuffed. I just put them on, so fingers crossed they work because for this much money, I want to keep the bottoms red!

But let me tell you, I almost shed a tear trying to get the air bubbles out, I wasn’t gentle enough taking the screen protector off and around the edge of one shoe, the paint started to lift πŸ˜”

Anyway, I’m beyond excited to finally have a pair! I sooooo can’t wait to wear them!

Pencil skirt Thursday!Β

Standard

When you’re a curvy girl like me, wearing a pencil skirt to the office can be a fine line between skanky and classy! But I love the way they look. I’ve found that for me, I have to go up a size so that’s it’s not quite as fitting, if I’m planning on wearing the skirt to work.

The one I’m wearing today is super cute. It has a zipper up the front…the tag is in the back, and the zipper is in the front, so I assume I’m wearing it the right way 😊

Do you love pencil skirts too?
