Denim shorts and white shirt kinda Saturday

Standard

Every time I wear a pair of denim shorts, Luke pops in my head and I want to burst out singing “look at that girl with them daisy dukes on!”

I don’t know about you, but I complain about how hot it is in the summer, but I LOVE summer clothes! Especially shorts. My legs are actually allergic to pants during the summer 😊

So, today I decided to wear a pair of denim shorts I found in Ross last week. I’ve actually been looking for a pair exactly like this since last year, so I was super excited to find them!

Here’s my OOTD. What do you think? I love white and denim in the summer!

Everything I’m wearing came from Ross except the necklace is from jane.com. I know that bubble necklaces aren’t so much the thing anymore but I still love mine!

Another way to wear a kimono, with a dress!

Standard

A few weeks ago, I wrote about my love for a good kimono. I seriously wear them with everything! Today I’m wearing my fav kimono with a dress and I love the look!!!!

Have you gotten any kimonos yet? How do you like to style them?

Where I got it:

  • Kimono: Ross
  • Dress: Target

Short sets aren’t just for kids anymore

Standard

I’m not much of a fan of dressing matchy, matchy. I’m not one of those women who changes my purse everyday to match my outfit. I’ll carry a bright yellow purse with no hesitation or second thought about whether or not it matches!

So, I’m surprised that I love the matching two piece short sets that I’ve been seeing everywhere. I actually bought one last year at Target, a crop top with shorts, and I got a lot of wear out of it last summer. I didn’t really know they were still so popular this year until I started seeing them again.

I was in JCP yesterday because I had a $10 coupon to use that I didn’t want to waste. The shorts immediately caught my eye because of the colors. I love anything green! Then, I noticed the matching top and I was super excited!

What do you think of the matchy, matchy look? Do you have any of these sets?

Where I got it:

  • Shirt & shorts: JCP
  • Necklace: jane.com
  • Wedges: Ross

How to clean your makeup brushes with alcohol

Standard

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, I’m pretty cheap! I like nice things, but I don’t want to pay a lot for them, and when I do, it’s gotta be something super duper special!  Cosmetics is one of those things I can justify the cost in my head…depending on what it is. But, brush cleaners, heck no, those aren’t worth spending a lot on, especially when good ol’ alcohol does the trick! Alcohol also kills germs, so you get a double whammy!

Here are 5 super duper, easy ways to clean your brushes (or sponges) with alcohol:

  • You’ll need alcohol and a small bowl. I got this one at Dollar Tree. I keep it in my bathroom and use it for mixing up small batches of sugar scrubs too!

  •  Next, fill your bowl about half way with alcohol. I’m saying half way because you’ll need some room to swish those brushes around, so basically just leave some room.

  • Swish your brush around in the alcohol a few times.

  • Dab the brush on a towel, or washcloth, until it’s clean.

  • Next, rinse the brush under the faucet.

Whooohooo you’re all done, just let them airdry and they’re ready for use!

What makeup brush cleaning tips do you have? It’s not the most fun you could be having at any moment, but nobody likes dirty brushes!

Cute Walmart dress…you read that right, Walmart!

Standard

If you know me personally or have been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I’m not a brand snob when it comes to clothing. If it’s cute and I like it, I’m buying it!

I don’t even remember how long ago, but I ordered this dress online from Walmart. A Facebook friend had posted a pic of a cute dress she found at Walmart, which I never found, but I went online to see what I could find.

It’s a super cute dress, the back is really sassy, and I forgot to take a pic of it, bummer!

I was going to wear a hot pink blazer with it, but I had a last minute wardrobe change and wore the blue. I’m glad I did because I love this color combo!

Have you ever purchased clothing from Walmart? Don’t knock it til you try it! They sometimes have some super cute things! And of course for cheap!

Where I got it:

  • Blazer: Burlington
  • Dress: Walmart
  • Heels: DSW
  • Necklace: jane.com

New fav skirt!

Standard

Yesterday I was wondering around in Versona and found the cutest skirt! I’m not really sure what you call these skirts, but they’re A-line and kind of flare out. Whatever you call them, they’re all kinds of cuteness! And I love the colors! As I wrote about in a previous blog, I’m really making an effort to buy more blue clothing. I had no idea blue could look so good on me!

Do you have any skirts like this? They’re awesome and this one was on clearance for 16.99 so it’s even more awesome!
Where I got it:

  • Shirt: Ross
  • Skirt: Versona
  • Shoes: DSW

Extend your lip color wear with lip primer, it works!

Standard

These days it seems there’s a primer for everything! Face, eyes, and now lips! When I saw a lip primer in CVS, I was a little skeptical and even asked myself, do I REALLY need this?!

I was looking around in CVS a few weeks ago because I had $5 in extra bucks burning a hole in my pocket, when I noticed the MUA display. I had never tried any of their products, it was on sale, 25% off, so I figured the timing was perfect to try it out! Because I’m trying to make an effort to cut down on buying more cosmetics, especially lippies, I was looking for something I didn’t already have. When I saw the lip primer, I was very curious. So, I decided to give it a go, and I’m glad I did.

I don’t know about you, but I get annoyed with having to reapply lipstick all throughout the day! This product works very well, and really extends the wear of my lippies. Both lipstick and gloss actually. To give you an idea, I only reapplied once yesterday, when I usually reapply my lipstick at least 3 times during the day. So, I’d definitely recommend it.

It is a nude color in a matte finish when you apply it, but it didn’t alter the color of the lipstick or gloss at all, which is what my concern was.

I’ve tried blotting my lipstick after applying, using powder as a base, and other things, but do you have any tricks to extend your lippie wear? I’d love to hear your ideas!

Bad hair day? Clip in ponytail to the rescue!

Standard

It’s hot already and still technically spring here in Charlotte. Hot weather=humidity, humidity=bad hair days! I normally just give up on the notion of having decent looking hair in the summer, besides every other Friday when my super stylist works her magic!

For awhile I’ve been wanting to go hair shopping for a ponytail, but kept putting it off.  On Saturday, I happened to go to Aldi and there’s a new beauty supply store in the same shopping center, so I decided to go check it out. I went in looking for cheap lipstick, the beauty supply stores are a great place to shop for cheap lippies when you want to try new colors, but not spend a lot in case you hate them! Then, while looking around, I remembered to look for a ponytail!

The one I ended up getting, well because it was the only one that matched my hair matches my color perfectly and is super easy to clip in. Well, it has little combs attached, and they’re pretty secure, but I add a few hair pins to be safe! I don’t want this thing falling off my head today! I’m also trying to think of how I can make this work for my evening kickboxing workout today 😳

Here’s what it looks like before putting it on.

Not that I plan on becoming an everyday hair piece wearer, but I can see why people are so into wearing wigs and fake hair! It totally takes the stress out of bad hair day situations!

I’m now old enough for anti-aging products, yikes! POND’s Rejuveness review

Standard

Just the other week I started to wonder, am I old enough for anti-aging products yet? And lo and behold, I got a VoxBox from Influenster with POND’s anti aging moisterizers to test for 2 weeks! Talk about perfect timing!

So, I joined in on the POND’S Rejuveness two-week anti-wrinkle challenge! I received two products free of charge from Influenster to test and review. I received the anti-wrinkle cream and the dark spot correcting cream. I’ve been using both for about 2 weeks now. In all honesty, I have great skin and no signs of wrinkles, thanks be to God! I’m in my mid 30’s, but I’ve been drinking about a gallon of water a day for the last 20 years. So, I really can’t give these products a fair assessment because I didn’t have any skin issues that needed improving.

I will say that they are great moisterizers. I use them on my face and neck. I’d definitely recommend them because they are non-greasy, made my skin feel great after usage, and they have some awesome ingredients like AHAs, Collagen, and vitamins B3, C, and E.

Here’s what the products look like.

So, if you’re looking for anti-wrinkle/aging products, try these out and #SeeForYourself!
