Hey y’all! We just got back a few days ago from vacationing in St. Lucia. We spent 7 days there to celebrate my birthday. The island is beautiful. It was our first time there. Funny fact, we didn’t even know exactly where on the map we were going or even how long the flight was until it was time for the trip. We thought it was more like a 2 hour flight, but nope a good, long 4 hours! And when I chose the destination I was thinking it was part of the US Virgin Islands. Despite the confusion, we got there and back safely, thank you sweet baby Jesus!
We stayed at Secrets, a new resort that just opened in June. We were also thinking it was brand new, but turned out to be only newly renovated. But it was a beautiful place to stay and the food was surprisingly delish. You know how all inclusives go, the food is usually just mid. But this was the best food we’ve had at an all inclusive. But I can’t recommend staying here if you like elevators and not a lot of walking because there are no elevators and most rooms are quite far with lots of stair climbing and walking up hills. Great exercise but omg annoying! They do offer golf cart transportation but with so many guests to cart around, it wasn’t reliable when you’re ready to leave your room. But with all the good food to eat, exercise is a good thing! Only one restaurant required a reservation, the hibachi one, and it was one of our faves. The drinks were also tasty and strong!
We decided to do one excursion and it was worth every penny. We paid $150 per person for the Joy Cruise which included picking us up from the hotel by boat, snorkeling, mud bath & volcano tour, waterfall, and homemade local lunch at Joy’s property. Such a beautiful property with the most amazing garden I’ve ever seen. We met Joy on the beach, he’s a great salesperson and such a beautiful spirit. We spoke to him a few times and once he shared stories about his parents and you could feel the love he had for them listening to him talk about them. I felt every bit of it in my soul because I feel the same way about my parents. If you’re ever in St. Lucia, you have to do this tour!

One thing we heard from a few locals is that they just recently started seeing black tourists there and were so excited. Not sure why this has been the case, but you could kind of feel it by the way some of the white guests acted as if we didn’t belong. You just felt a strange vibe at times. But we of course didn’t let that ruin our time.
If you’ve been, let’s swap stories! If you’re thinking about going, you totally should!
