Fun times in Hilton Head

Since we’re limiting travel to drivable trips only, Hilton Head has become a fave beach destination. It’s only about a 3.5 hr drive from Charlotte, the beaches are clean and beautiful, and we’ve been so much that we’ve gotten to know the island pretty well. The only drawback is the food. We haven’t found any restaurants that are just slap ya mama delish, so if you do have some restaurant recommendations, please drop them in the comments!

We last went a few weeks ago. The timing of this trip worked out perfectly. I had just wrapped up my time at my last job, and was just about to start my dream job the following week! Talk about the perfect timing of God’s plan. Hubby had randomly chosen that week for us to take a vacay last year. Neither of us had a way of knowing that my assignment would be ending early, or that I’d be rolling into something new, but God did and everything worked out, as always!

So, what to do when in Hilton Head? Since we were there for a week, we went to the beach just about everyday. There are many beach parks with entrances to the beach, so we decided to try all of them on the list from the resort. Only one had free parking. Sorry, I can’t remember all of the names, but you can easily find them with a Google search. The fee is pretty nominal for all of them. I think the most we paid was $1 per hr.

Back to the food, we did find a few tasty eats this time. The Fishcamp has beautiful views and our server was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. It’s always amazing to me how you can have such an amazing connection with a stranger. The sandwich in the pic is the mahi mahi from the Westin. Don’t know what they do to it, but it’s delish. Get it blackened with the truffle fries.

Here’s some other random pictures. We love Hilton Head, and if you haven’t been, you should definitely go. We can’t wait to travel internationally again, but it’s been fun finding beautiful local places to travel over the last couple years. This time we tried the 2 person cat boat tour…it only lasted a few minutes thanks to the rough waters that day. I thought we were gonna die out there! We also went on a dinner cruise. I give it a 2 thumbs down because the food wasn’t that great, and there was a loud mouth a-hole that we couldn’t escape thanks to being tied to your seat the whole time. Not literally, but there was nowhere to go during the cruise. And we couldn’t even really see the sunset views. Don’t waste your coins on that!

What’s some of your fave, not so far places to go? And don’t forget to give us some HHI food recs if you have any!
